Тапи была одной из тех русалок, которые легко заводят новых друзей, где бы они не оказались. Хорошенькая и веселая, она покоряла любого парой остроумных шуток и интересными историями о тех, кого повстречала на своём пути и про каждого рассказывала так, что потом его легко было бы узнать.

- И тут мне навстречу выплывает тритон, ну точь в точь красная акула, а волосы у него расчесаны набок, по людской моде. Я думала сейчас пригласит на танец, а он гребнями торговал, и как начнет мне и показывать, не знала как от него отвязаться. Еще там была такая мрачная русалка, - Тапи округлила глаза и насупила брови, от чего стала похожа на какую-то золотистую сову, - даже хвост у неё был черный, а на лице шрам. Потом мне сказали, что у неё чудесный голос, но чтобы услышать надо застать её в особом настроении.

Новые подруги слушали рассказы Тапи, затаив дыхание. Где она только не была, чего только не видела, и всё это в свои неполные семнадцать лет, когда многие другие русалочки еще крутятся возле своих родителей подобно подросшим малькам. И всё же были те, кому не нравилась эта юная путешественница

- Сплетница, - говорили они, - и пустышка. Хватает по верхам, а вы сидите будто зачарованные и не думаете о том, что завтра она также про вас будет рассказывать. Всё расскажет, у кого хвост кривой, а кто лицом не вышел.
- Но мы же не делаем ничего плохого, - удивлялись русалочки, - чего нам бояться? Да и хвосты у всех ровные. А как еще узнать, что творится по всему морю, если не слушать тех, кто путешествует. А каких красивых островитян она описывает!
- Только беда от неё будет, увидите.

Тапи погостила немного у солнечных рифов и отправилась дальше, заводя новые знакомства по пути, и болтая без умолку. Неправы были злые языки, никому она зла не желала, а если и говорила что-то, то только правду. Много лет спустя, когда русалочки подружки повзрослели и стали более самостоятельными, они тоже отправились в путешествие. Увидели диковинных глубоководных рыбин, опасные рифы, красивых островитян-собирателей и даже слышали прекрасную и грустную песню русалки со шрамом на лице. А в некоторых местах, их узнавали по рассказам Тапи, расспрашивали об их родине и удивлялись, как точно она описала солнечные рифы и местных обитателей.
